Yesterday while looking at Facebook, I saw a beautiful senior dog who is up for adoption. I thought I recognized her, and sure enough, I featured Blossom on the Daily Dog Tag last April.
Blossom is adoptable from Worcester County Humane Society. Thanks to Little Miss Lovely, who made the gorgeous floral collar and photographed Blossom.
Blossom needs to be the only pet, which might be why she has been at the shelter for SEVEN years. Well, actually, she may sleep at the shelter, but she loves to go on field trips with shelter volunteers. She has a lot of good energy and loves to run. She would be a great running partner or adventure hound.
After seeing Blossom, it made me wonder about some of the other pets I’ve tried to help find homes. Many of them have been adopted, but I’m sad to say that others are still waiting.
Pilot entered the Regional Animal Shelter in Gloversville, New York, in March of 2014. Although he passed his Canine Good Citizenship test, Pilot needs to be the only dog. Thanks to Jessica Painter for Pilot’s photo.
Susan is one of the dogs I met at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. She was shy, but I have high hopes that she’ll meet that special person and find a home soon. Surprisingly, Lincoln is still in the Sanctuary. If you need a walking partner and someone to snuggle with on the couch, Lincoln is your guy! Honestly, I recommend Lincoln if you are looking for a dog. (Photos courtesy of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.)
I haven’t met Cowboy in person, but I am totally in love with his ears, smile, and happy eyes!
Both Lincoln and Cowboy are senior dogs and are free if adopted in January.
Chances are that if you’re reading this post, you already have a furry companion. However, I hope you’ll share Blossom and the other adoptable dogs with your friends and family. You never know if you’ll be a matchmaker!

Thank you so much for sharing these cuties!! Lincoln and Cowboy immediately stole my heart with those faces. I unfortunately can’t take on a second dog at the moment but, when I can, I’m definitely going to be adopting!

I sure do hope Blossom and all the other pets find a great forever home. It’s so hard not having a family to call your own.

Praying they find homes soon, I cannot take another as it is a 500 dollar deposit each time plus my studio is just too small and it would not be fair

Sometimes the best thing you can do is to share a homeless pet. It is important to not get more than you comfortably handle.

As animal welfare advocates, we become familiar with so many of these beautiful souls. I agree, 2017 is going to be a great year for rehoming animals in need. My special dog is named ‘Mike.’ He is the first on my list for whom I will advocate. Thank you for this inspirational post.

It breaks my heart to see so many dogs, cats, and other animals left waiting for a forever home for so long in shelters. Thankfully, many rescues have wonderful volunteers who take good care of them, but there is nothing like the love of a forever home.
Beth says
You are right, I know that all of these animals are being cared for and loved while they wait for a home.

Blossom is absolutely beautiful! What soulful eyes! There’s a cat I featured back in July, named Boots, and I just found out he is still looking for a home. I feel so sad for him and will probably share him again soon.
P.S.: Cowboy’s ears!!!! So cute.

What gorgeous canines (and that’s high praise coming from a feline). We senior animals need to stick together. My brother Tucker and I are 12.

These guys all look ready for a great time and to share lots of love. Here’s hoping January brings the seniors their homes too as they have as much to give as the youngsters
