I don’t think I will ever be able to find the right words to start a post like this. I want to apologize to you the reader because I know it might make you cry. And yet, I feel it is important for me to share these posts. Olive’s life was too short, but she knew real love and happiness, and I think that is what matters the most. Thanks to Elska Productions for sharing these special photos of Olive, the sweet Yellow Lab.
From Janet: “Olive was rescued by Kim and Walter when she was approximately two years old. Only a few years later, at the young age of 4, Olive was diagnosed with a cancer that would attack her blood cells. Kim and Walter were determined to fight this fight as long as Olive showed that she was up for it, and she was. Olive and family gave it their all. The medical teams looking after Olive were so caring and compassionate. They even gave Olive a purple heart for courage to wear on her collar.
Sadly cancer would win this fight.
Kim called on us to spend a few hours with Olive and capture her last days with them. It was really important to find a way to make these photos memorable for Kim and Walter but also to make the time enjoyable for Olive.
We found a beautiful walking trail where Olive could enjoy the outdoors and cool breeze we also thought it would be a great tribute to find a location with a bridge and have a photo of Olive crossing it to symbolize her crossing the Rainbow Bridge.
And lastly, there was no better enjoyment than for Olive to enjoy some time in front of the fireplace, her favourite spot. Olive took her last breath in the loving arms of her family the next day.
We were honoured to have spent this time with this beautiful family. We will forever treasure the licks and snuggles Olive shared. RUN FREE sweet baby!”
If Kim and Walter were to have a memory stone for Olive, it would read “Loving & Loyal Lab. Our Olive.”
I will be spending some extra time with my dogs today in Olive’s memory.

What an honor to be asked to capture such important photos. Each time I lose a pet, I wish I’d taken more photos of them. Fly free, Olive. ♥

It’s always difficult to loose a pet, but Olive was much too young to go. The picture at the bridge is lovely but a very emotional one.

This absolutely touches my heart…what a beautiful living tribute to a beautiful dog. Having just lost my Gibson, I know just how important capturing all the moments spent with them, right up until it’s time for them to leave, is so important. These are gorgeous pics…and the bridge one…wow…brought tears to my eyes. Run free, beautiful Olive. Hugs to your family, and may these gorgeous photos bring them many smiles and fond memories.

So beautiful and thank you for all you did. Big hugs to her foster mom that took this girl in to save a life and place her in Kim and Walters caring hands. Olive was blessed from the moment a rescue took her in until she was given her final peace in her families arms.

We know this pain – both in terms of losing three dogs to cancer (two within a a year of each other), as well as having photographs taken together days prior of a passing. The pain is immense and only with time do you appreciate the beauty of having had this special time. Blessings and I will keep this entire family in my thoughts and prayers.
