Adopt Alvin!

When I first spied Alvin, I asked Sara Robertson from Wolfcrest Photography if she would let me share his photos. Alvin is about 3-4 years old and is a Labrador mix. He was one of many dogs who were scheduled for euthanasia and is one of the lucky ones who was pulled for rescue. In addition to being very handsome, Alvin is well mannered. Sara really knows Alvin, besides being his photographer, she is fostering him. I know it will be bittersweet for Sara when Alvin finds his forever home.

From Sara: “Alvin is a true friend. From the moment we met him, we instantly knew that about him. He is friendly, loyal and an amazing companion to anyone looking for another soul to share their life with. I truly can’t stress that enough. Alvin deserves to be loved and cared for as any other family member. All animals deserve this. Alvin came to us by total chance in an effort to help a group of dogs that were scheduled to be put down at a shelter in North Carolina. We didn’t know what to expect and knew nothing of who Alvin was or where he came from, just that he needed our help and that he was a big three year old boy at 60 lbs.

Alvin plays, hugs, wrestles and will bark on occasion. He has a deep, manly bark but is actually a teddy bear. He loves to run as fast as he can (I have a hard time keeping up) and is SUPER excited for anything dealing with being outside. And although he can get a bit overzealous on his walks he NEVER pulls too hard and is always quick to listen and follow your lead. In fact, he is an amazing listener and only wants to please, despite the fact that he came to us as a stray. He is friendly to everyone we pass and seems to enjoy every moment he has been given. He loves nothing more (and I mean NOTHING more) than to simply just be petted and loved. He is an amazing creature and he has a lot of love to give, as well as a lot to receive.

I thought maybe he would be tired, sick, scared, hungry or all of the above when we first got him, and that he may be frightened by us or hearing our house full of our crazy pet babies. He took to us in seconds and made US feel like we were part of HIS family. We were the lucky ones who have crossed paths with his life and anyone else who has the privilege to do so will feel the same. Watching him leave when we find him a new home will truly be heartbreaking for us, as we have grown to care so much for him in such a short period of time. Everyday is an emotional one here because we know he isn’t able to be a part of our family. Alvin is truly a beautiful dog with a beautiful heart and someone will learn much about life and love from him. We won’t sleep peacefully until we know that Alvin has the home and life that he more than deserves.”
