Instead of relying on their memories and phones to record their precious family vacation on Galveston Island, this smart family hired a professional photographer, Dawn Brown from Degrees North Images.
“This sweet family is super busy, so when they found they had a weekend off, they decided to take a little vacation to catch up on some much needed family time. Since they’ve never had family photos done, they thought this would be the perfect time to do it! They rented a beach house on Galveston Island, loaded up the family, including their excitable dog Briley and made their way to the island and a much-needed break. Galveston is crazy on the weekend, but we managed to find a section of beach close to the house that was fairly empty.
Mom and Dad embraced the chaos of trying to coordinate a toddler, a baby and a rambunctious pup that had no interest in being photographed! Their two-year-old had a great time running through the sand and splashing in the water. The baby touched the ocean for the first time and enjoyed the warm water on her tiny toes, flashing us some big smiles.
While we did get some nice posed photos, the candid moments they spent with each other are my favorite.”

I used to visit Galveston all the time when I was a kid. I can tell they must have gone during a busy time from the cars! It’s nice to go when it’s not so busy.

Hi Ann,
Yes it was a busy time. I love to go on weekday evenings during the spring and fall months. The sunsets at those times are pretty too!

That’s a great idea! Why reserve professional photos for just weddings & other huge occasions, why not have photos done for vacations?! I love these pics!

Hi Cathy,
Yes vacation photo sessions are the best! You’ve got everyone together and presumably in a good mood and ready to have fun. I recommend them for family photo updates that double as wonderful souvenirs!
